SPECIAL SESSION                                                               AUGUST 13, 2008

 

 

The Arizona City Sanitary District Board of Directors held a Special Session at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at the regular meeting place of 12922 S. Kashmir Road, Arizona City, Arizona.

 

 

Board Members Present:                   Richard Autry, David Campion, Joanne McKenzie, William Miller

 

Board Members Absent:                     Cecil Borboa

 

Staff Present:                                      Frank Andrews,  Mary Boileau, Susan Versluis

 

Guests:                                               Kelly Schwab, CGSUS; Randy Tirpak, Gary Neuman, Larry Ayers, Brown and Caldwell

 

 

1.                  Call to Order:  Chairman called meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.

 

2.                  Welcome to Guests – Chairman’s comments:  Chairman welcomed guests.

 

3.         Presentation on alternative procurement methods for design and construction services:  Larry Ayers gave a power point presentation on four project delivery methods.  The four methods are (1) design build bid,  (2) design build, (3) construction manager at risk and (4) job order contracting.  Mr. Ayers explained each method, the organization of each, the kind of jobs each method are best suited for and the pros and cons of each method.

4.         Discussion and possible action regarding maintenance and construction work at the Treatment Plant and discussion and possible action on the selection of a procurement method for construction services for maintenance and construction work at the Treatment Plant:  Discussions revolved around the following:

 

            (A)       Safety related projects that need to completed immediately

            (B)       Projects that need to be completed in the near future

            (C)       Which project delivery method best suits the District’s needs

 

Motion made by Member McKenzie to approve the Job Order Contracting method.  Motion seconded by Member Miller.  Vote – 4 Ayes.  Motion Carried.

 

Mrs. Schwab’s office and Brown and Caldwell will work together to get the paperwork ready for Job Order Contracting.  Should be ready for Board review no later than the first meeting in September.



 

 

5.         Call to the Public:  No Public comment.

 

                                               

6.         ADJOURN:  Motion made by Member Campion to adjourn.  Motion seconded by Member McKenzie.  Vote – 4 Ayes.  Motion Carried.
